Snow chaos in Bludenz: How to support the clearing teams!

Bludenz has prepared for the cold season because the first snowflakes fell and the temperatures have dropped noticeably. The city has a committed team of snowmen who is ready to free the streets of snow and ice. Mayor Simon Tschann emphasizes the motivation and preparation of his team, but emphasizes the need for support from the citizens.

On snowy days, work begins at four in the morning. The team consists of 22 employees who move out with modern vehicles and devices such as tractors and trucks. You use a lot: about 200 tons of split and 270 tons of road salt to keep the streets safe. In order to be well equipped in difficult situations, the storage capacity for road salt was increased. With extreme snow conditions, additional help from local farmers and vendors is requested.

Responsibility of the residents

The snow removal is not the sole task of the city. Private owners and vehicle owners also have to contribute their part. Homeowners are obliged to free and sprinkle the sidewalks and staircases in the vicinity of their property between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. from snow every day. Special rules apply to areas without sidewalk: one meter of the roadside must be cleared here.

The owners of stalls must also be particularly attentive because snow and ice must be removed from roofs. It is not allowed to simply push snow onto the street to ensure safety for pedestrians and other road users. These regulations do not apply to agricultural areas outside the local area, but there is still liability with gross negligence.

"If we all tackle together, we can look forward to the white splendor from above," says Tschann, who also emphasizes that the cooperation between the city and the population is crucial. If you have any questions or problems for snow, citizens can contact the municipal building yard on 05552/63621 or by email at stadt@bludenz.at.
