Newborns in Bludenz: 140 trees for a greener future

in Bludenz also occurred in 2024 a special campaign that strengthens the relationship between the newborns and nature. A tree was planted in the urban forest for every newly born child. This initiative not only serves to increase the trees, but also to the environmental awareness of the coming generations.

This year 140 birches were set as part of this tree planting campaign, since 140 small bludges were seen in the light of the world last year. This procedure helps to actively maintain and expand the forests in Bludenz. The city of Bludenz has pursued this tangible destination since 2021 and has already planted around 600 trees.

symbol of the future

City councilor Martina Brandstetter expresses her joy about the tree planting campaign and highlights: "Big things often start small. The tree planting campaign is a step in the right direction and symbolically stands for the future of our young Bludenz citizens." According to her, the conscious handling of the environment is a central aspect that should be integrated into the life of younger generations.

The trees that are planted are not chosen. Birches were now also added to the grapes, Speierlingen and Föhren, whereby special attention was paid to the home tree species. The city of Bludenz has a total of 2,000 hectares of forested area, distributed over ten communities in Vorarlberg. This is an indication that the city is closely linked to its surroundings and takes responsibility for nature and its citizens.
