Environmental activists complain: Court examines effects on nature and noise!
The Austrian environmental protection organization "Alliance for Nature" has lodged a complaint with the Federal Administrative Court (BVWG). According to the organization, the assessment notice of the responsible office is to be classified as illegal, since only the provisions of the Austrian UVP Act (UVP-G 2000) were taken into account when examining the project and not the relevant European UVP directive (UVP-RL). This argument was made public on Friday, as kaernten.orf.at reported.
"Alliance for Nature" expresses profound concerns about possible negative effects of the project on the quality of life of people, the biological diversity as well as the water supply and the forest. The organization is particularly concerned about the expectation of considerable noise and traffic loads that could go hand in hand with the project. In view of the fact that such projects often have serious ecological consequences, this plays a crucial role in public perception and the legal arguments.
