On Friday, November 22nd, Lienz heralded the Christmas season with a colorful start. In cool temperatures, numerous visitors gathered: inside in the main square to enjoy the traditional Advent market experience. Radio presenter Marlene, of course, performed together with brass and municipal councils, while Mayor Elisabeth Blanik presented a table-sized Lienz-Lebenzente with a spectacular ceremonial. This culinary highlight is not only a festival for the eyes, but also a symbol for the start of the contemplative pre-Christmas period.

The atmosphere was festive despite the cool weather. Traders presented their goods on the market, which was filled with a variety of stands. Hot drinks were particularly in demand and contributed to the visitors: to arm against the cold inside. The freshly baked gingerbread by Mayor Blanik and City Councilor Siegfried Schatz were also distributed as part of the usual offers - a generous gesture that also fueled the festive mood.

The colorful program

The Advent market in Lienz also offers a varied program this year that shortens the waiting time until Christmas. From December 1, a new window of the region's largest Advent calendar is unveiled every day in Liebburg, which creates additional anticipation. In addition, the "living workshop" is opened, where art and craft can be experienced in action.

Another highlight will be the crib exhibition, which will take place in Liebburg from December 6th to 15th. Here visitors can marvel at the creative artistry of the exhibitors. To be on the safe side, Hannes Rohracher, the night watchman, will also make his evening rounds and announce the curfew by swinging his halberd at 9:00 p.m. This ensures a little tradition and carefree in the city's festive atmosphere.
