New Year's Concert 2025: Lienz celebrates 200 years of Johann Strauss

The Lienz Symphony Orchestra (SOL) is planning a very special concert to start the new year. Under the motto “The start of the new year!” The orchestra invites you to its New Year's concert in the Lienz City Hall on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. This event doesn't just have the simple purpose of welcoming the New Year musically; it is also the beginning of an anniversary year dedicated to the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss' son, known as the “Waltz King”.

Visitors can look forward to a varied program that includes works by Johannes Strauss and his brother Josef. In addition, compositions by important musicians such as Benjamin Britten, Giuseppe Verdi and Carl Michael Ziehrer will be heard. This diverse repertoire is intended to both entertain listeners and highlight the importance of Johann Strauss's son in music history.
