Art in public space: make women's voices visible in Lienz

in Lienz recently expressed clients of the facility per mente as part of an impressive exhibition. This ´Osttirol Makes Herstory - Women (Stories) in public space 'aims to increase the visibility of women in the city and in particular to raise their individual votes. Mayor Elisabeth Blanik supported the project and encouraged women to actively shape public space.

A remarkable work shows a young woman who describes her journey from drug addiction to recovery. Her feelings and challenges are shown in one picture - surrounded by symbols of their past, such as drugs and alcohol. But despite the dark symbols, the positive thoughts should not be missing. Her message is clear: "But I did it" is written in her arm, while at the same time reflecting on the negative influences in her life.

The creation of the exhibition

The idea for the exhibition came about during a city walk where the question arose where women were represented in public spaces. This thought experiment led to the creation of this creative platform. The clients actively participated in the development of the works represented, which makes the exhibition an authentic review of their stories and perspectives. "You are the heart of the project, you should get a voice," said the organizers Nadine Lukasser, Alexandra Breitegger and Nina Oberthaler.

The city of Lienz sees the exhibition as an important instrument to illuminate the importance of women in public life and also to set a strong sign against social norms. The artists' messages - among other things "I want to encourage other women" - should not only convey personal strength, but also act as a call to solidarity and empowerment to other women.

Pro mente has a total of 25 locations in Tyrol and offers support for people with mental illnesses. The organization aims to give support and perspective in crisis situations and to offer support through a wide range of services- from residential offers to work and professional training. "There is no other project like here in Lienz," emphasizes Karin Lugger-Willis from Pro Mente Tirol.

This special exhibition in a week full of creative expression and honest part of experiences shows how important it is that women are heard in public space and are seen their stories. "A call to all women: take public space!" So the mayor's words who invite you to actively help shape changes. The exhibition is not only an expression of individuality, but also a collective commitment to the strength and resilience of women in our community.
