Train traffic between Munich and Salzburg: Total lock during the autumn holidays
The flow of traffic between Munich and Salzburg will be significantly impaired in the coming days. From October 25th at 11 p.m. to November 4th at 4 a.m. there will be a full closure of the railway line between Kufstein and Salzburg, at the same time as the autumn holidays in Austria and Bavaria. All train connections in Munich are affected.
The reasons for this total lock are the course and overhead line work that is required, according to Deutsche Bahn. "We try to keep the effects on passengers as low as possible, but construction -related restrictions cannot be avoided," said a spokesman for the train.
locking and diversions make it difficult to travel
For travelers who want to go to Austria, there are some significant changes. All trains between Vienna and Munich are diverted via Passau, which is no longer available in Salzburg. This leads to an additional travel time of around 30 minutes. This requires trips to Linz, St. Pölten and Vienna instead of driving directly through Salzburg. In addition, it also hits passengers who want to stop in Hungary because these connections are also redirected. During the lock, trains in Vienna have to reverse what many connections complicated.
For many rail travelers who want to visit the region or want to return from it, this means that they have to adjust to diversions and longer travel times. Trips between Munich Hbf, Munich East, Rosenheim, Prien, Traunstein and Freilassing are particularly affected, where all train connections are omitted.
rail replacement traffic offer some solutions
During the total lock, replacement traffic is set up by buses to offer travelers some options. It is pointed out that from Munich from Kufstein remains available as usual. Replacement traffic on buses is also planned for trains that run between Vienna and Innsbruck as well as Vienna and Bregenz. Nevertheless, passengers have to expect longer travel times and should adapt their travel plans in good time.
The ÖBB was skeptical about the time of work during the autumn holidays. "The time of the lock is not the cheapest," said a spokesman and emphasized that similarly important work is planned in Austria. Despite the cross -border votes, the influence on Austrian planning was limited.
In addition, ÖBB plans a new quick trip between Munich and Vienna, which is to lead via Linz and Mühldorf am Inn. In the future, passengers should be able to reach the Austrian capital from the Bavarian state border in just two hours, which could put the current situation in the shade.
In view of these developments, travelers are advised to plan their trips in advance and to find out more about the latest information about the diversions and replacements. These temporary restrictions make it clear how important the constant maintenance and development of our transport infrastructure is.
