Thiersee celebrates its new educational center with pride

Last Sunday, October 6th, the citizens of Thiersee gathered to celebrate an important event in the community - the opening of the new education center. Despite financial challenges associated with the construction, the municipality was able to proudly look back on the successful completion of the project.

The mayor Rainer Fankhauser welcomed the guests with great joy and emphasized how important this new center is for the formation of children in Thiersee. "It was the only way for the community to create an event hall. That was certainly the right decision," he said, thanking his team in the local council for the collaboration.

space for the future

The new education center has an impressive total usable area of 6,149 square meters. There are enough space here, five school classes, five kindergarten and two crèche groups. A gymnasium that measures 15 × 27 meters is also available to the students. Interestingly, the local library was also integrated into the new building.

Detailed area information makes the dimensions of the project clear: 1,206 square meters for kindergarten and the crèche, 2,079 square meters for elementary school and 785 square meters for the gymnasium including storage and wardrobe area. In addition, there are open spaces for the playground of the kindergarten and the school garden.

The sustainable wood cladding of the building is particularly worth mentioning. The mayor proudly explained: "The wood comes from its own community forest, was cut in Thiersee, never left the place and is now embellishing our building." The cost of the building was around 17 million euros, with the state of Tyrol supporting six million euros.

challenges during construction

The implementation of such a large -scale project is not without difficulty. During the construction work, the municipality had to deal with the bankruptcy of the project support Gemnova, which was a major challenge. Instead of commissioning a new construction management company, the municipal council took over the project management itself. In addition, the municipality was confronted with the bankruptcy of the total company WRS shortly before the opening, which raised additional legal and financial questions.

Despite these adversity, the mayor remains optimistic. "Despite this economic drama, we can open an educational center today that should last over the next 100 years," he emphasized. The opening stands not only for a new space for education, but also for the chance to prepare a new generation for the challenges of the future.
