Lucas Auer: Triumphs at the Lausitzring – second DTM victory in a row!

On May 24, 2025, Tyrolean racing driver Lucas Auer won the third DTM race of the current season at the Lausitzring. This victory not only marks his second success this season, but also the eleventh victory of his DTM career. Auer competes for Team Landgraf in the Mercedes and is now seen as one of the leading drivers in the overall standings.

Auer, who is 30 years old and lives in Kufstein, clearly prevailed in this race. He crossed the finish line 1.344 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Maro Engel, also driving a Mercedes. Rene Rast from the BMW team took third place, 5.083 seconds behind. Auer mentioned after the race that a successful pit stop and a tough fight for the lead with Engel were crucial to his victory. His performance in qualifying, which earned him three additional points, should also not go unmentioned, as he also achieved the best time here.

Seventh DTM victory at the Lausitzring

With his fourth victory at the Lausitzring, Auer shows impressive form at this track. He now leads the overall DTM standings with 63 points, closely followed by Jules Gounon, who has collected 47 points. This performance highlights Auer as a strong contender for the title. Thomas Preining, the other Austrian driver in the DTM, was able to secure sixth place in the Porsche, which is also a positive result for the Austrian motorsport team.

The second race at the Lausitzring is already scheduled for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and fans are eagerly awaiting whether Auer can continue his winning streak. The start on Saturday didn't go according to plan for many drivers, as Timo Glock, among others, finished in 17th place after encountering difficulties during the pit stop. In addition, Ricardo Feller stopped his race due to a loss of performance.
