Two injured in frontal crash in Fieberbrunn: drunk driver responsible
Yesterday evening, October 4th, a serious traffic accident occurred on the L2 in Fieberbrunn, Tyrol, which resulted in two injuries. The incident happened around 6:35 p.m. when a 22-year-old German was driving his car from St. Jakob in Haus towards Fieberbrunn. An oncoming 68-year-old man from Austria collided head-on with him. The exact cause of the accident is currently unclear.
The impact was so severe that both vehicles were totaled. The younger driver had to be taken to the district hospital in St. Johann in Tirol by rescue helicopter. The elderly driver was also transported to hospital, but in an ambulance.
Drunk driving
In addition to the injuries, a worrying discovery came to light: the 68-year-old Austrian was given an alcohol test, which came back positive. This suggests that he was driving drunk, which further aggravates the situation. Such circumstances can not only have serious legal consequences, but also raise questions about road safety.
Various emergency services were on site to treat the injured as quickly as possible. Two police patrols, four vehicles from the Fieberbrunn volunteer fire department with 25 firefighters, an ambulance and an emergency medical helicopter were mobilized.
Road accidents like this not only cause physical injuries, but can also have potentially life-changing consequences for those involved. However, the attentive intervention of the rescue workers prevented anything worse from happening. The exact background to the accident is still being investigated by the police in order to clarify how the collision could have occurred.
