Stop the MCI new building: Tyrol's education in the crisis!
The Tyrolean educational landscape is facing a change! Governor Anton Mattle made the controversial decision to stop the new construction of the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI). The reviews of the Tyrolean Greens are unmistakable: Zeliha Arslan, member of the state parliament, describes the step as "bitter setback" for the educational institution and emphasizes that the decision sends a "sad signal" to students and teachers. At the same time, the NEOS party expressed sharp accusations: the management "burned tax money" and was responsible for the "embarrassing end" of the project, as Susanna Riedlsperger ironically noted.
The original project provided for a cost -intensive new building investment of up to 250 million euros, but in view of financial concerns in the Tyrolean state government, Mattle has now taken another course: the main locations of the MCI remain intact, instead an inexpensive renovation is being made. It seems as if the years of debate and the additional burdens for the state of Tyrol have not led to anything, because Mattle now has that the existing locations should be brought to the fore as soon as possible in order to secure the quality for the 3,300 study places. This was also confirmed by MeinDzirk
ambiguous reactions and massive criticism
The decision to bury the new building takes place after years of discussions and an analysis of the university locations in Tyrol. According to Mattle, the state councilor will present additional proposals for better cooperation between universities in the near future. But the political reactions leave no doubt that many want to be accountable to many those responsible. In particular, the NEOS call for a complete information about the mismanagement that has led to this disaster. Riedlsperger speaks of a "embarrassing end of a long -term tax tax tragedy", which further increases the pressure on the state government when the waves of this failed project are supposed to smooth out.
