Innsbruck West II celebrates an important 2-1 win against SK Wilten 1b
SPG Innsbruck West II achieved a significant victory in the 9th round of the 2nd class middle. The team celebrated a 2-1 win against SK Wilten, which catapulted them to ninth place in the table. The next challenges are already around the corner, because the next game will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in Volders. This is a catch-up game from the 6th round. In the same class, Nordkette secured the new league lead with a smooth 6-0 win in Matrei, while Rum had no game in this round.
From the start, Innsbruck West 1b showed that they wanted to control the game. They played aggressively to take an early lead, which they did in the 24th minute. Arjin Tekin scored the first goal of the game with a strong shot from distance. The SK Wilten 1b goalkeeper had no chance to block this precise shot, which gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage. Despite further good opportunities, the score remained unchanged until halftime.
The equalizer and the final offensive
After the half-time break, SK Wilten 1b came out of the locker room with fresh enthusiasm. The guests showed more presence and actively looked for gaps in the home team's defense. Their efforts were rewarded in the 68th minute when Jesus Del Real Hernandez equalized to make it 1-1. This equalizer put pressure on Innsbruck West 1b, who now had to go on the offensive again to secure the win.
Things got dramatic in the remaining minutes as SK Wilten 1b tried to equalize again. Nevertheless, Innsbruck West 1b's defense held firm and secured the narrow lead until the final whistle in the 91st minute. Coach Marco Tomasi of SPG Innsbruck West II said after the game: "We're finally rewarding ourselves! Important home win for my team, general praise to the entire team. Now it's time to add to the addendum in Volders on Tuesday!"
