The organizational claim to align such an event is a completely different challenge that raises far -reaching questions and considerations.
Different cities, including Lausanne and Bern, have tried several times to submit a candidacy, but so far every attempt has been rejected by the people. The arguments for the implementation are often the same: the picturesque Swiss Alps offer an ideal backdrop, there are already numerous sports facilities that are prepared for large events, and economic benefits through tourism and investments could be significant. Nevertheless, the question remains: Is the population ready to accept the potential disadvantages and challenges associated with Olympic acquisition?

Despite the excellent infrastructural requirements, the framework conditions for an Olympic candidate in Switzerland are anything but ideal. The shadow of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with its strict requirements and the growing negative narrative cannot be overlooked. In order to inform the population about a possible project, an honest and fact -based communication campaign is essential, which illuminates both potential advantages and challenges. At the last candidacy for the 2022 Olympic Games, a deficit of over one billion was estimated, for example, which put the questions about financing and economic effects in the foreground. The idea of privately financed games that should take place without votes could prove to be utopian.
As a first -class winter sports nation, Switzerland has the potential to organize the Olympic Games, but it also has to arise the difficult questions of security, logistics and environmental effects. During the games, behavioral guidelines would have to be created for the entire airspace and traffic routes, and the costs could skyrocket. A clear communication of these aspects will be crucial to gain the trust of the public.
