Rapid deployment of the fire brigade prevents a fire catastrophe in Weiz

On Friday evening, November 29, 2024, a fire occurred in the Weiz district headquarters. At 7:20 p.m. an alarm was triggered by the fire alarm system in the building, which meant that emergency services had to quickly take action.

The Weiz Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene with around 30 firefighters and was able to quickly bring the fire on the ground floor under control. Fortunately, there were two cleaning staff in the building at the time of the incident and they were able to evacuate in time and uninjured when the alarm was raised. These were then looked after by the Austrian Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation

Fire investigators will investigate the causes of the fire in the coming days. Initial indications indicate that the fire may have originated in the kitchen. To date, however, there is no precise information about the extent of the damage, so it remains unclear how badly the building was affected.

However, the rapid response of the emergency services and the functioning fire protection in the building prevented anything worse from happening and averted tragic consequences. More details about this incident can be found at www.fireworld.at.
