This year, a total of 48 members for the state parliament were available for election, which are made up of various partyists, including the ÖVP, SPÖ, FPÖ, Greens, KPÖ and NEOS.

The election process was characterized by changeable forecasts, and the current results indicate significant shifts in the political landscape of the district.

The election results in the Weiz

district

The ÖVP has a significant decline and only reaches 33.74 percent of the votes, compared to 42 percent in the last election 2019. This change means a loss of over 8 percentage points. In contrast, the FPÖ enjoys strong growth and can now record 36.21 percent of the vote, which is a drastic increase of almost 19 points. The SPÖ no longer applies to 17.37 percent, a decline of around 5 percent. The Greens face 5.07 percent, which also means a decline compared to the 10.24 percent of 2019. The NEOs come to 4.79 percent, while the KPÖ remains stable at 2.82 percent.

In the urban areas of Weiz and Gleisdorf, a similar picture is shown. Here the FPÖ also achieved a clear victory in Weiz with 27.61 percent (2019: 11.76 %) and in Gleisdorf with 33.82 percent (2019: 18.31 %). The ÖVP ends up in Weiz at 24.34 percent (2019: 26.95 %) and 28.04 percent in Gleisdorf (2019: 36.46 %). The SPÖ receives 31.93 percent in Weiz and 16.27 percent in Gleisdorf, with both values remain almost stable. Another remarkable result shows the Greens, which in Weiz 6.94 percent (2019: 11.64 %) and 9.89 percent (2019: 17.35 %) in Gleisdorf.

Interestingly, the change rates for both the ÖVP and the Greens are relatively strong compared to 2019, which may indicate the growing dissatisfaction of the voters with the current political decisions. In perspective, this could lead to a realignment in the political affiliation of the district.
