Jobday 2024 in Weiz: Discover opportunities for your professional future!

This year, the IBI Weiz apprenticeship initiative is again providing an informative platform for prospective trainees and their parents. The 15th Jobday will take place in Weiz on October 15th and 16th, 2024, an event that already has a permanent place in the calendar. Here, students in grades 7 to 9 can discover numerous professions and career opportunities. Older interested parties and career changers are also warmly invited to find out more.

The events start on October 15th with a special information evening for young people and their parents. This takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and offers visitors the opportunity to talk to various companies and advice centers. At 7:00 p.m. Erich Sammer will give a lecture on “The professional future of your children”. Admission is free and no prior registration is required. Gerhard Ziegler, Jobday coordinator, emphasizes the importance of this opportunity for comprehensive career information.

Diverse information and contributors

The highlight of Jobday 2024 is the actual information day on October 16th in the Kunsthaus Weiz. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., more than 60 companies, including well-known companies such as Siemens and Magna as well as regional companies such as Weitzer Parkett, will present their training offers. There are also exhibitors in tourism and trade as well as in the metal and construction industries who introduce themselves to future apprentices. School classes have the opportunity to register in advance, but individual visitors are also welcome at any time. Mayor Ingo Reisinger emphasizes that on this day a unique, accumulated variety of information is available for choosing a career.

In addition to the exhibitors, a workshop will be offered that deals with the topic of “job interviews”. Here, students can learn how to present themselves optimally for future job interviews. Another attractive aspect of Jobday is the popular competition, in which participants have the chance to win prizes worth up to 150 euros - a motivating way to get to grips with the offers.

Training opportunities in Weiz

The situation is particularly interesting in the Weiz district, where 1,481 apprentices are currently being trained. This puts Weiz in third place in a Styrian comparison, only surpassed by Graz and the Graz area. The number of apprentices has increased continuously in recent years, which indicates the increasing demand for skilled workers. Gerhard Ziegler notes that apprenticeship training offers particularly good opportunities for girls and career changers. Given the shortage of skilled workers, young people have good prospects of getting an apprenticeship.

Overall, Jobday 2024 offers an excellent opportunity to find out about various career paths and training opportunities. Parents and students should definitely take advantage of this opportunity to actively shape their professional future and gain valuable insights into the world of work.
