20 years Luis: Cabaret artist inspires in Weiz and brings laughter to the Ultental
The cabaret artist Luis from South Tyrol has been delighting audiences throughout the southern German-speaking area for over two decades. He recently performed at the Kunsthaus Weiz and entertained his fans with sharp humor and a pinch of cheek. His performances are a mix of personal experiences and social observations that often make listeners laugh and at the same time make them think.
On the way to his performance in Styria, Luis noticed that the posters on the side of the road not only depicted politicians, but also referred him to his tour. “Hopefully I won’t be elected,” he said with a wink. In the Frank Stronach Hall, he asked questions that made the audience smile and even mentioned prominent fellow citizens of his hometown, such as the world-class skier Dominik Paris and the former emigrant Michael Jackson, who became famous in the USA.
Tour and commitment to the homeland
Over the last 20 years, the cabaret artist has covered many kilometers to reach his audience, always focusing on his native roots. With clever wordplay, he talks about the challenges that a mountain farmer in the Alps has to face. In order to promote tourism in his homeland, for example, he started building a swimming pool, which was associated with numerous difficulties, as he humorously reports: "The digging worked quite well, only the water thing was problematic."
Luis also sells a variety of merchandise in his shows, from DVDs to cookbooks to tote bags. His range reflects the individual charm and humor that has earned him a loyal fan base.
What's particularly remarkable is how Luis manages to appeal to both younger and older listeners. His mix of wit and profound thoughts makes him an unmistakable figure in the cabaret landscape. In Weiz he was able to show once again why he inspires so many people, and the audience applauded enthusiastically for the diversity of his work.
Further cabaret events, such as “50 Shades of Schmäh” and a best-of program with Gernot Kulis, are already on the agenda at the Kunsthaus Weiz. Andreas Vitasek also delighted the audience with his show “Spätlese”. For many, the cabaret in Weiz is an integral part of cultural life.
