Reading on dementia: Johanna Constantini presents off 2 in Voitsberg

On December 12th at 6.30 p.m., the "Akzente" association invites Johanna Constantini to read in the Voitsberg roofing theater. This is done in cooperation with the Voitsberg city library and the Needs network Dementia Styria to point out the important topic of dementia.

dementia is one of the greatest challenges in our society: 55 million people worldwide suffer from it, with 11 million affected in Europe alone. The situation in Austria is particularly alarming, where around 130,000 people live with dementia - this number could double due to the demographic development by 2050

insights into everyday life with dementia

Johanna Constantini, who works as a clinical psychologist, shares personal experiences in her new book “Apart from 2- from learning and learning experiences”. She describes how to deal with her father, who suffered from Alzheimer's, Didi Constantini, a former chief of football in Austria. The author illuminates how her daughter Frida's learning experiences are reflected in her father's "experience". This perspective offers valuable insights into the emotional world of those affected and their families.

Claudia Nestler from the Voitsberg city library emphasizes that events like them aim to raise more awareness of dementia. It emphasizes the need to provide information and break the often existing taboo. After all, every family can be affected by this topic, and both medical and social and cultural approaches are required to deal with it.

Entry to the reading is free, but requested to register in advance at number 03142/21 315. The event is accompanied musically by students from the Voitsberg music school. After the reading there will be a buffet that offers the opportunity to talk and exchange.
