The Touring Association Murtal has reason to be happy, because the region was awarded the best sports tourism region in 2024 at the Austrian Business Sport "Victor". In an international comparison, the Murtal can come up with a remarkable offer that is characterized by world -class porter events such as Formula 1, MotoGP and DTM.

This important award emphasizes the region and demonstrates the variety and the high quality of the sporting offers for locals and tourists alike. The managing director of the adventure region, Hannes Herr, and the marketing manager, Isabella Painhapp, accepted the award in Salzburg and are happy about the recognition. "The award is a milestone for the Murtal and confirms our top position in sports tourism," they said.

With over 20,000 votes in a public voting, the region prevailed against well-known competitors such as Kitzbühel and Innsbruck. The jury praised the region in particular for its diverse sporting opportunities in both winter and summer. "Whether skiing in winter or cycling and hiking in the picturesque mountains in summer - every sports lover finds something for themselves," says the jury's reason.

A highlight is the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix on the Red Bull Ring, which not only ensures tension, but also acts as a figurehead of the region. At the event, the price rental companies also met prominent personalities of the sport, including team boss Ralf Rangnick and the kicker legend Herbert Prohaska.

The investments and innovations in the sports infrastructure and events show that the Murtal wants to continue to act as a pioneer in the field of sports tourism. "We have a lot plans and will constantly improve our offers to meet the needs of sports enthusiasts," explains Herr further.
