Leoben celebrates tradition: Advent concert delights visitors!
This year, the Leoben group of Amnesty International celebrated a special campaign as part of the world-famous letter marathon. This initiative, which has been running annually for over 20 years, aims to counteract human rights violations and help countless victims. On December 10th, Human Rights Day, a symbolic “Human Rights Tree” lit up Leoben’s main square, decorated with colorful stars representing the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This reported meinkreis.at.
Anniversary and commitment
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Amnesty group in Leoben, the long tradition and commitment of the activists was highlighted. The Austrian section of Amnesty International has been campaigning for human rights since 1970, and the Leoben group is one of the first of its kind in Austria. Leading personalities such as Marian Pink and Balder Ortner have shaped the group and given the commitment to endangered people a face through their tireless commitment. How amnesty.at reports, the last four decades have been marked by numerous events and information activities aimed at raising awareness of human rights issues among the population.
Campaigns such as the letter marathon and the “Tree of Human Rights” not only bring the importance of these issues to the fore, but also encourage active participation. The Leoben Group sees itself as part of a global network of more than 2.2 million members who are committed to protecting human rights and making a decisive contribution to global dialogue.
