20. Murfelder Advent run: Together for a good cause on December 15th

The Murfeld Advent Run, which takes place this year for the 20th time, not only brings people together on December 15, but also pursues an important charitable goal. This popular event extends over the five villages of the former municipality of Murfeld and has established itself as the largest benefit run in Styria. Over the years, the run has helped countless children in need in the region.

In 2005 by the association "Murfelder Adventlauf" under the direction of chairman Hannes Klapsch, the event has now achieved remarkable success. Klapsch reflects: "19 years ago we started as a small run around Advent time. Now it is the largest in this format in Styria." In fact, over 50 children have been supported with special needs since it was founded, and the entire donation amounts to an impressive 771,225 euros.

charitable engagement

The revenues of this year's anniversary benefit specific children: Mia-Sophie Pratter (1 year, Down syndrome, heart defect), Theresa Rexeis (18 years, epilepsy), Leonie Robnik (9 years, epilepsy) and Luca Seidl (6 years, heart defect). A large part of the donations collected flows into the Murfeld donation pot, which is used for immediate help to needy families. Klapsch emphasizes that the goal of the run is not only the sporting aspect, but rather the social commitment, which is the focus.

The run itself is designed as a joint event that brings together young and old. The start-finish area is located at the former municipal office in Lichendorf, and the route leads in the direction of Weitersfeld. There is no timekeeping for the participants, which enables everyone to enjoy the experience without pressure. "We want to give all participants a pre -Christmas atmosphere," said Klap.

anticipation for the event

The start numbers will be issued on Saturday, December 14th. On the weekend, the audience also enjoys musical performances, including an appearance of the Blasbladen ensemble of the Strass market music band before the runners start the race at 2 p.m. The walkers follow half an hour later. A total of around 800 participants are expected who are committed to a good cause.

This event has established itself as a central achievement in the region. The run not only promotes sporting activities, but also combines people with a common goal: to help others.
