Vienna Hanusch Hospital shines in the international ranking of the best clinics!
Vienna’s Hanusch Hospital has taken an outstanding place in Newsweek’s international ranking “World’s Best Hospitals 2025”. It ranks 154th among more than 2,400 hospitals evaluated worldwide, thereby contributing to the positive balance of Austrian healthcare. At the national level it ranks 6th and at the local level, in Vienna, it even ranks 2nd, directly behind the Vienna General Hospital, which achieved the best overall rating among the Austrian clinics at 30th place. Andreas Huss, chairman of the ÖGK employees, congratulated the AKH and highlighted the outstanding achievements of the Hanusch Hospital and its employees, who offer “top medicine at the highest level in the world,” as Claudia Neumayer-Stickler, the new chairwoman of the umbrella organization of social insurance providers, also emphasized. The rankings are based on an online survey of over 85,000 medical experts to measure patient satisfaction, as well as criteria such as hygiene and quality of care.
Austria's leader in healthcare
The Vienna General Hospital and the Graz University Hospital as well as the Innsbruck University Hospitals have also made it among the best hospitals in the world. According to an evaluation by Newsweek, the AKH ranks 30th, making it the highest-rated clinic in Austria. A total of 250 clinics from 28 countries were considered in the overall evaluation. With this achievement, the University of Vienna underlines its top medical achievements. Nevertheless, local hospitals are still catching up in the area of modern technologies, with the AKH in 99th place in terms of the use of technical processes.
In view of these successes in the health sector, the need for solid financing in the Austrian health system becomes clear. Huss and Neumayer-Stickler emphasized that continuous improvement and quality of health services can only be achieved through appropriate investments and support. Hanusch Hospital is currently planning to invest in modern surgical technology to remain at the forefront while focusing on high patient satisfaction, a key factor in Newsweek's evaluation criteria.
