Skigebiet Niederalpl: Schneechaos stoppt Liftbetrieb mitten in der Saison!
The charming Niederalpl ski area in the eastern Upper Styria has set up the operation prematurely due to lack of snow. This unemployment came in the middle of the semester break, and only one lift was last in operation. On the website of the ski area it was regretted that "unfortunately the lift operation must be stopped despite all efforts". The last day for the skiers was February 7th. The operators thanked their employees, who tirelessly had snow into the lift routes and shoveled on the slopes. According to 5min.at , the area is normally considered snowproof in the past.
unusual winter and problems for the operators
The ski area, just about 90 minutes from Vienna and Graz, has been affected by insufficient snow in recent years. January in particular brought little rainfall, and the prospects for February are also dark. A wintry landscape presented itself on the webcam, but the white base for a proper lift and slopes was missing. It can even be said that the lack of artificial snowmaking on which the ski area does not rely on contributes to the fact that the skiers have to stay away, as well as steiermark.at reported.
The operators of the Niederalpl do not give up and hope for a better coming season in 2025/2026. Despite all these challenges, loyalty to their guests remains steadfast. A screen -filling winter wonderland is not enough if the snow is not enough to maintain skiing.
