Discover artistic nativity scenes and Christmas magic in Althofen!

The pre-Christmas period in Althofen will be marked by several festive events this year. The central attraction is the nativity scene exhibition in the cultural center, which opens its doors on November 28th and 29th. Visitors can look forward to around 20 artistically designed nativity scenes, presented by the well-known artists Alfred Obmann and Christian Worofka. The exhibition will be ceremoniously opened on November 27th at 7 p.m. Admission is free, donations will go to a child with a disability. The exhibition rooms on the first floor of the cultural center are accessible on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Obmann and Worofka have been a well-rehearsed team in nativity scene building for over 20 years. The wealth of detail in her works, from moss to everyday objects, makes for an impressive depiction of the Christmas story. This exhibition is part of the Althofen Christmas World, which has its starting point in the city park.

The Althofen Christmas world

In the Althofen city park, the Christmas world opens in a festive atmosphere that promises visitors a magical experience. Guests gain access to this festive world via a sparkling portal. The park is decorated with lights and festive decorations and filled with enticing scents from 24 stalls offering crafts, food and drinks. There is also a varied program with live music from around 5 p.m. on Advent Saturdays.

The Christmas world is not only a place for culinary delights, but also for contemplative moments. A special highlight is the Christmas post office, where children can send their letters to the Christ child. The Christmas World is open on Advent weekends, including November 28th and 29th and December 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th and 20th. On Fridays visitors can access from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Program highlights in Advent

The Christmas World program contains a variety of events that are exciting for visitors of all ages. The opening will take place on November 28th at 4:00 p.m. by the mayor and the Christmas world coordinator. The musical accompaniment is provided by the music school and the band “The Silvertones”. The ecumenical Advent wreath blessing will take place on November 29th at 5:00 p.m., followed by performances by the kindergarten, elementary school and the city band.

On the remaining Advent weekends, visitors can look forward to various musical performances and festive activities, including performances by choirs and live bands, which create an atmospheric atmosphere. As part of the Christmas World, there will be a special end to the year on December 31st with an invitation by the mayor to enjoy champagne.
