Inclusion in sports: archery for people with disabilities in Graz

In the heart of Haselsdorf-Tobelbad, the passionate athlete Anne-Marie Kelterer is committed to giving people with disabilities accessing archery. In cooperation with her trainer colleague Manfred Reichmann, she offers specially coordinated training for visually impaired and mobility-limited athletes in the PostSportverein Graz and as part of the "Wednesdaysport" program in Tobelbad.

The idea of making this sporting activity more accessible through special offers drives Kelterer. "The motivation was there and I quickly acquired the necessary knowledge," says Kelterer. She underlines how important it is that many interested parties often do not know where they can find suitable sports offers. This challenge is addressed by the "Sportfinder" online platform, which was launched.

a platform for everyone

The "Sportfinder" enables clubs to present their inclusive sports offers free of charge and thus make it accessible to a wider audience. "The user interface is made barrier -free so that everyone, including people with disabilities, can simply navigate," explains Kelterer. This gives small clubs Dieplay to draw attention to their offers without overcoming financial hurdles.

In addition, the team offers advice for clubs behind "Sportfinder" to point out important aspects of inclusive sport. This is not only about the design of the offer itself, but also about the accessibility of the sports facilities, which is often a challenge. "Something that is barrier -free for people restricted mobility can have completely different requirements for visually impaired people," says Kelterer.

Inclusion in sport

Anna Dockhorn from the "Sportfinder" team notes how important sport is for all people. "He keeps us physically and mentally healthy and promotes social contacts," she says. Unfortunately, suitable offers for people with disabilities are often not visible, and this is exactly where the sports finder comes in. "We want more people to find out about these options," continued Dockhorn. In order to make the platform better known, there are also attractive prices for all clubs that register by November 30, 2024.

Anne-Marie Kelterer is convinced: "Inclusion in sports is feasible and an asset to our club." Together, you and your team bring new hope and opportunities to the world of sports for people with disabilities. The developments related to the platform can be followed under www.sportfinder.at
