Over 100 million euros for the new educational campus in Deutschlandsberg
Over 100 million euros for the new educational campus in Deutschlandsberg
An exciting development is imminent: The Federal School Center in Deutschlandsberg will be redesigned by the school year 2026/27 with a total investment of around 100 million euros. The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) has decided to significantly improve Germany's educational location through the gradual renovation and expansion of this educational institution.
This center, which is of central importance for many students in the region, has experienced some challenges over the years. "We are bursting at the seams", Dietmar Theußl, the new director of the BG/Borg, brings it to the point and refers to the urgently needed place and the improvement of the facilities for the students.
a future -oriented school campus
As part of a press conference, the plans were announced by important representatives such as Minister of Education Martin Polaschek and State Councilor Werner Amon. The selected location for the announcement, the Sparko in the retail center, is apt because it is a popular meeting place for the students. "We want to create the future school campus that covers the educational needs," said Amon.
The concept includes a thorough general renovation of the existing federal school center, which is intended to offer the students modernized and functional rooms. A total of 65 classrooms that cover different school types are planned, including the BORG, the HLW and the newly adding independent higher technical educational institution (HTL), which is to be opened in 2026/27.
"With this new campus we create a future -proof educational infrastructure and prepare young people for the requirements of digitization and a constantly changing world of work," said Minister Polaschek.
An important part of the project is the sustainable construction and the consideration of resource conservation. The outdoor facilities should also be designed in an appealing manner. "We would like to ensure that the new institutions also work aptly in practice and meet the needs of the students," said Gerald Beck, Managing Director of the Federal Immobilizer Society.
independent HTL for the region
Another important element of the plan is to found an independent HTL in Germany. So far, students from the HTL Bulme Graz-Gösting have been taught at an external location. The new school will offer two disciplines: industrial engineering and the exciting new training offer for IT and digitization. This measure should not only improve the training conditions, but also to further intensify the connections to the regional economy.
The mayor of the municipality of Germany, Josef Wallner, emphasizes how crucial this step is for local training and maintaining specialists in the region. "We would like to make sure that we develop future specialists in the region and thus strengthen our economy," said Wallner with emphasis.
In addition, the planned HTL will help to meet the increasing number of students and to offer a wider range of educational opportunities in the field of digitization. This is particularly important in view of the growing requirements of the labor market and the need to prepare students for the challenges of future professions.
At the present time there is still no concrete groundbreaking date, but the next steps include the tender of the architecture competition in 2025. However, the anticipation for this educational campus in Deutschlandsberg is already noticeable and will certainly bring many positive changes for the pupils in the region.
This exciting development in the education system is part of a more comprehensive plan to position Deutschlandsberg as an educational and business location. It remains to be seen how this initiative will develop in the coming years, but the so far and commitment of those responsible show that the course is set for a promising future.
