New walking and bike path between Edling and Trabochersee is being built

A significant improvement for cyclists and pedestrians in the region has now been initiated: the first work began a week ago, and the official groundbreaking was celebrated on Monday. The new walking and bike path, which extends over a length of exactly 1235 meters, is built between Edling's roundabout and Lake Traboch. This cycle path will establish an important connection between the iron road cycle path (R38) and the Muradweg (R2), whereby an important gap in the transport network is closed.

Anton Lang, the traffic officer and deputy governor, explained the plans: "We expect construction to be completed by the end of May next year." This construction measure is not only a progress for the infrastructure, but also reflects the commitment of the local authorities to create safe and practical transport connections.

Financial aspects of the project

The investment for the new walking and bike path amounts to a total of 1.5 million euros. These costs are divided between the state of Styria and the municipality of Trofaiach. This type of financing shows how important this project is for both institutions and illustrates that an improvement in traffic conditions in the region has top priority.

With the creation of this new path, not only the safety of cyclists and pedestrians is increased, but it is also expected that the new route contributes to a targeted promotion of environmentally friendly locomotion. Anton Lang emphasized that such infrastructure projects are crucial to relieve traffic in the cities and to improve the quality of life of the citizens.

While the construction work progresses, it remains to be seen how progress will affect the use of bicycles and the coincidence in the region. For those who are regularly in the area, this new connection could be a welcome improvement.
