In the charming Eibiswald, the anticipation of the upcoming St. Nicholas Day is reflected in the festively decorated streets. On December 5, 2024, the main square becomes a stage for a unique tradition: the Eibiswald Krampus run. From 6 p.m., the shaggy figures will not only provide a festive mood, but also delight numerous children with gifts. This event is not only a solemn spectacle, but also has a long history that is deeply anchored in the region.
A child -friendly atmosphere is the focus of this event, which is important for the entire community.
tradition and joy
The preparations are in full swing while the Krampuses with their chains and bells cause excitement. "With bell ringing and chain rattles, the Krampuses draw attention to themselves after dark," explains Manuel Tünkler from the Infernum. The use of birch rods, chains and cow bells is not only part of the spectacle, but also a sign of the tradition on which this custom is based.
The contemplative side of the Krampus run is represented by the Nikolaus, which will hand over a small packer to each child. This packer contains delicacies such as dough cramps, mandarins and other sweets that will inspire the little ones. „Je důležité, aby běh Krampus provozoval dítě přátelský a nenásilný. Santa Claus zajišťuje, že se děti cítí radostí svými dary,“ dodává Sommer.
The arrival of the Krampusse is also celebrated. The scent of mulled wine, punch and delicious dishes such as Goulash and Frankfurter will meet the main square. This liveliness and warmth in the cold season ensures that the village community comes together to experience this special tradition. More than just a festive event, the Krampus run in Eibiswald offers a platform for community and joy in the run -up to Christmas.
As part of the festive activities, the myth of the Krampusses also comes alive. "The Percht is on the road in the Raunächt and sells the winter, the Krampus comes on December 5 and punishes evil," explains Tünkler. This gives the evacuations a deeper cultural importance that many locals appreciate.
The Eibiswalder Krampus run not only becomes a colorful move, but a real family party. An experience that touches the hearts of both the little ones and the big visitors. The upcoming December 5 will certainly be an unforgettable evening for the entire community.
