Fun and victories: 108 youth youth follow the call of Lake Rudolf!

From July 9th to 12th, 2025, the division of the fire brigade association Voitsberg took place at Lake Rudolf in Hirschegg. Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the event had to be postponed by two days. A total of 108 fire brigade and 20 supervisors took part in this camp, which came up with varied activities. Area youth officer BI René Sorger welcomed numerous guests of honor among which Mayor Markus Prettenthaler and Vice Mayor Ulrich Schratter were. Alt mayor Gottfried Preßler as well as fire councilor Josef Pirstinger and many other local politicians and fire brigade representatives were also present.

The guests of honor praised the young people and their supervisors for the outstanding services during the national competitions. "It proudly fulfills me that this youth camp takes place here in Hirschegg," said Mayor Prettenthaler. The participants can expect a colorful program with football, badminton and a special challenge, the "Sottrogreatta". This regatta was a highlight of the camp, in which the best team was able to win two smartphones, sponsored by FF Hirschegg.

The "Sautrogregatta" proved to be a particularly popular activity, with David Bejen and Simon Schneebauer from the Söding fire brigade first place. The supervisors were also not excluded from the event and competed against each other in a sporting comparison. Raimund Rothschädel from FF Kemetberg and Sandra Schirdi from FF Mooskirchen were able to look forward to a voucher from the Spengerwirt.

The event was not only a platform for sporting competition, but also promoted the sense of community among the fire brigade youth. Such camps help develop social skills such as integration and teamwork, which is as important in the fire brigade as the technical training.
