Modern geriatrics in Mittersill: a place for recovery and quality of life
In the Tauernklinikum Mittersill, a new department for acute geriatrics and remobilization was recently opened, which is intended to significantly improve medical care for the elderly in the district. Silke Göltl, the managing director of the clinic, expressed its joy about this progress at the opening ceremony, which is an important enrichment for local health care.
The medical director, senior physician Dr. Michael Hofer explained that the main goal of this facility is to attribute older patients to their everyday life after an illness or an accident. For this purpose, an environment was created that put both medical and therapeutic care in the foreground. "We have created optimal spatial conditions," said Hofer.

A highlight of the new department is a fully equipped exercise kitchen that is specially tailored to the needs of the patient. This enables those affected to train everyday skills in a realistic environment, which according to Prim. Univ.-Doz. Dr. René R. Wenzel is of great importance for the recovery of independence in old age. A barrier -free environment with a high feel -good factor is a basic requirement.
The color concept of the new patient rooms was also carefully planned to promote well -being and to facilitate orientation. A total of eleven modern patient rooms are available, including four special double rooms. Bernd Buchner, the department head, is already looking forward to the positive feedback from patients and employees.
A generous lounge area with access to a terrace and a roof garden not only offers a nice view of Mittersill and the mountains, but also serves as a relaxing retreat for the patients.
