Sustainability in culture: Austria's art scene is awarded
Austria has established itself as an important cultural center in which art and creativity adopt numerous forms. At a solemn event on November 14th in the Climate Protection Ministry in Vienna, numerous facilities in the field of theater, museums and film were distinguished. Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler and Minister of Culture Werner Kogler handed over documents to institutions that were recognized with the Austrian environmental sign. This seal of approval shows that there is a strong commitment to environmentally friendly practices and sustainability.
The Austrian environmental sign is not only a symbol of the excellent work in the field of climate and environmental protection, but also a clear indication that sustainable action and creative work can be easily combined. Gewessler emphasized: "With the Austrian environmental label, cultural companies set a strong sign of environmental and climate protection." This award motivates numerous companies to act as role models in the community and to find innovative solutions for improved energy efficiency.
excellent companies and new subsidies
A total of seven speech and music theater were awarded, including well-known institutions such as the Volksoper and the Raimund Theater. There are also gratifying developments in the museum area: eight museums were given the seal of approval, including the Wien Museum and the Kunsthalle Vienna. These museums stand for a growing number of cultural institutions that now focus on sustainability in order to exercise a positive impact on the environment.
The new funding for climate protection projects in art and culture, which started on September 17th, is also particularly noteworthy. A total of 35 million euros are available for this. "In order to support art and cultural companies in their commitment in the field of climate protection, we started with a new funding program to increase final energy efficiency," said Gewessler. This initiative shows that the state is behind the artists and whose efforts actively supports environmentally conscious action.
As part of the event, several film productions were also awarded the environmental sign. Among them are the renowned Good Media Solutions, Amour Fou Vienna and Allegro film production. Cinema companies such as the Metro Kino in Vienna and the cinema in the boiler house in Lower Austria were also honored, which together shows that the film and cinema industry can also make an essential contribution to sustainability.
The excellent companies are a shining example that the art and cultural sector can contribute not only to entertainment, but also to preserve our environment. "Art and culture can make an important contribution in terms of environmental and climate protection," said Kogler and emphasized the role of art to achieve and sensitize different people solely through their presence.
