Magical Advent season at Salzachsee: Experience the festive market!

This year's Advent market at Salzachsee in Liefering promises to be a true feast for the senses. After the success of the premiere last year, the market will also take place this year from November 22nd to December 22nd. Especially on the five weekends before Christmas Eve, visitors benefit from a varied offering that includes both handicrafts and culinary delicacies.

With 15 lovingly designed sales huts grouped along the shore of the lake, the market becomes a picturesque attraction. Festive fairy lights illuminate the paths around the lake and create a magical atmosphere that is particularly impressive at dusk. Highlights include an impressive wooden nativity scene and the “Sleigh of the Christ Child”, which create a contemplative atmosphere. During the five Advent weekends, 24 exhibitors offer a variety of handmade products - from wool to wire to natural cosmetics.

Special features and culinary highlights

The variety is not only enough for Christmas presents, but also for four-legged friends - there are dog biscuits and chic accessories such as collars. And when it comes to culinary delights, everyone gets their money's worth: from hot chestnuts and baked potatoes to smoked fish and sweet temptations, there is something for every taste. Mulled wine and various types of punch round off the offer and invite you to linger.

While Mayor Bernhard Auinger praises the good response to the Advent market, Deputy Mayor Florian Kreibich emphasizes the relaxing atmosphere. “Compared to the busy markets in the city center, this market offers a great alternative for those who want more peace and quiet,” says Kreibich. Franz Götzinger, the operator of the market, emphasizes that he wants to use this offer to enliven the local recreation area in the winter as well. He was pleased with the market's positive reception last year.

Opening times and leisure program

The Advent market gates are open on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. An exciting program provides additional highlights: Krampus runs take place on Fridays at 6 p.m., which is an especially attractive event for families. On Saturdays the children can do crafts between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., while the Christ Child visits the market on Advent Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Every Saturday and Sunday, a group of traditional “Weisenbläsers” provides atmospheric musical accompaniment between 4 and 6 p.m., and pony riding is also offered for younger guests.

Entry to the market is free, and accessibility should not be a hurdle for all visitors - the venue is easy to reach by public transport, bike or on foot. Line 7 takes guests directly to the final stop and there is plenty of free parking available.
