Das Memberg: A new hotspot for coffee and creativity in Salzburg
The charming Memberg in Salzburg recently changed its location and now shines in new splendor. Owner Robin Limpek opened the café in Linzer Gasse, where he changed his former name a bit and the big "M" has now become a small "M". Here he unites high-quality organic coffee specialties, homemade cakes and a selection of unique design products under one roof.
The path of Robin Limpek to the catering trade was anything but traditional. Originally trained in mechanical engineering, after a certain time, professional life just itched him too much. With a few temporary jobs in the catering trade, which he collected during the summer vacation in the family campsite, the desire to create a place where people can come together. It all started in Wolf-Dietrich-Straße in 2020, but the opening fell exactly in the first Lockdown, which became a challenge. In order not to give up, Robin sold coffee through a window for seven months.
from Wolf-Dietrich-Straße to Schallmoos
The transition years had their pitfalls, but Robin did not give up. Later he moved to Schallmoos, where the Memberg became known as a meeting point for many Salzburgers: inside and tourists. But the requirements of a 24/7 operation were too great for him, and so he finally found the perfect location in Linzer Gasse, where he can design the place exactly according to his ideas.
In the meantime, the Member has become a cozy coffee & concept store. The focus here is on the quality and diversity. The offer includes gluten -free and vegan options, and also for people who prefer oat milk, there are no additional costs. Robin prefers to welcome everyone, regardless of whether you delete a classic cappuccino or caffeinated oat milk.
creativity and diversity in every detail
The coffee comes from the local organic roasting shop of Natur coffee from Seeham and is prepared in a special mix. The cakes are another highlight - Robin has a fine sense of treats that attract people from popular cinnamon snack cakes to banana bread. But the Memberg is not only known for the culinary delights, but also for its creative design selection. From cookbooks to cosmetics to jewelry, customers can find a variety of hand -picked products, many of them from local artists: inside and small manufacturers.
Speaking of creativity-Robin's own podcast-Merch has also conquered a place in the Memberg. "The café on the edge of friendliness" has already attracted many listeners: inside who combine their concerns for the daily coffee break with a visit to the Member. The exchange between locals and tourists is lived here, whereby Robin emphasizes that the other cafes in Linzer Gasse are not a competition, but rather partners and additions. "Every restaurant has its own identity," says Robin.
A small addition to the name of the name: The name "Memberg" comes from a failed project that Robin and his friends planned a few years ago for a creative co-working space in Membergerstrasse. Although the project was never realized, the name remained. And now the Member has found its place in Salzburg.
Visitors to the Memberg can look forward to a unique experience that appeals to both soul and palate. The Memberg can now be found in Linzer Gasse 78 and a visit is definitely recommended.
