on Saturday evening, February 1, 2025, violent clashes between hooligans from Austria and Italian football fans occurred in Udine. According to information from 5min.at, the Austrians attacked a train with rival fans, including about 300 supporters of the Venezia Calcio. The attacking fans, many of them followers of the Regionalliga Club Austria Salzburg, had put fireworks on the tracks and thrown stones, which led to a dramatic hold of the train. as OE24.at reported, six Austrian hooligans were invited to a court in Udine on Monday, February 3, 2025. In a quick procedure, five of them received a conditional prison sentence of one year and eight months. A Bosnian, who also belonged to the hooligan camp, was sentenced to two years in prison for allegedly attacking police officers. The Austria Salzburg reacted immediately to the incidents and condemned the acts of violence in a public declaration.
