Rankweil surprisingly receives 51,226 euros - what does that mean for the club?
The UEFA distribution program for the Euro 2024 ensures financial relief for numerous football clubs in Europe. With a record amount of 233 million euros, over 901 clubs are considered. In Austria, a total of 13 teams benefit from this measure, which includes a total of more than 3.9 million euros. FC Rot-Weiß Rankweil is particularly pleased, which received unexpected support with 51,226 euros. As laola1.at was surprised by the sporting director Elias Müller, since the association had so far received no information about this support.
This unexpected funding is due, among other things, to central defender Andreas Malin. Malin, who has been playing for the Liechtenstein national team since 2016, played 49 caps and soon withdraws to his parent club SC Göfis. According to Müller, the sum received is primarily used for regular payments, youth work and necessary repairs. The team is currently in the relegation battle and at that time is in the penultimate place in the league.
further donations for Austrian clubs
In addition to FC Rot-Weiß Rankweil, other Austrian associations also receive financial donations. FC Dornbirn, for example, receives 47,567 euros, while FC Höchst and FC Nenzing received 14,636 euros or 10,977 euros. However, the largest amounts go to the Bundesliga teams, with Sturm Graz receiving the highest funds with 1.072 million euros. The most important donations are listed in the following table:

These measures are welcomed by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, who underlines the importance of financial support for clubs of any size. The solidarity payments increase by 33 million euros compared to the last European Championship. This money not only supports the professional development of the clubs, but also contributes to the stabilization of structures in Austrian and European football, which through the reports of krone.at and laola1.at further underlined.
