People's illness X: malaria or new virus? Children in danger!

In the Congo, the population is in shock due to the mysterious "illness X". For months there has been speculation for an enigmatic illness that has already requested at least 140 deaths, including many children under the age of five. Public Health expert armin Fidler from the WHO explains that the term "illness X" stands for unknown diseases. However, the latest knowledge suggests that it is very likely to be malaria, since in ten out of twelve rehearsals by sick pathogens, as

children's fate and lack of immunity

The situation for children is particularly devastating - about 75 of the recorded deaths have occurred in malnourished small ones who also suffered from comorbidities. This combination has made it difficult to detect malaria immediately. According to the WHO, there were over 400 cases in the Panzo region in the province of Kwango, whereupon people were in great concern. Surprisingly, however, the disease rate has not increased exponentially, which indicates that there may be a certain immunity among the population, as experts determine. The WHO continues to check samples to exclude other possible pathogens while efforts are made to transport the samples more efficiently from the hard -to -reach area, such as Vol.at reported.

Although the development of "illness X" was initially perceived as a threatening and unknown phenomenon, the situation now seems to become clearer. The fact that Malaria can be identified as the cause could increase the pressure on the health authorities, to act quickly in order to prevent the spread and to provide affected children the necessary help. Even if a transmission from person to person can be excluded at Malaria, the fight against this dangerous illness remains highly topical.
