Postschacher at the highest level: Nehammer and Brunner under fire!
Wien, Österreich - FPÖ club chairman Dr. Dagmar Belakovich has practiced sharp criticism of the nomination of Karl Nehammer and the former ÖVP finance minister Brunner. Both were appointed to high-ranking positions, Nehammer as Vice President of the European Investment Bank and Brunner as EU Commissioner for the Interior and Migration. Belakowitsch calls these appointments parade examples for "Postschacher" and sees both the support of the Greens, SPÖ and the NEOS as problematic. She also accused Nehammer of working against peaceful demonstrators during the Corona pandemic and blamed him for the Islamist terrorist attack in Vienna on November 2, 2020. According to her, Slovak authorities had provided information that could have prevented this attack.
The allegations against Nehammer and Brunner are not new. Belakowitsch complains about a budget disaster, which the Austrians heavily burdened because Nehammer assured that a savings package would not be necessary in the National Council election campaign. At the same time, Brunner is criticized because shortly before the election, he mistakenly expressed that the budget was okay. Both politicians are also known for their costly trips, the costs of which were borne by the taxpayers. Nehammer traveled to Bulgaria before the Lower Austrian state election in private jet, which cost 22,000 euros, while Brunner's visit to the opera ball was 76,000 euros.
questions about qualification
With the appointment of Nehammer on the Vice Presidential Position of the European Investment Bank, questions about his qualifications arise, especially with regard to the reconstruction of Ukraine. His gross monthly wage is 31,536 euros and the nomination took place without prior agreement in the National Council or a decision in the Council of Ministers. This decision was made by the Federal Ministry of Finance under the direction of Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer (SPÖ). Critics in the ranks of the NEOS show resentment about the nomination and the impression of agreements between the ÖVP and SPÖ.
The NEOS, which have always spoken out against corrupt posts, now see themselves in a delicate location. Club chairman Yannick Shetty may be planning measures against Nehammer, and inquiries to him and his deputy Stephanie Krisper remained unanswered. A published report deals with the non -transparent allocation of posts, emphasizing that political conviction is often more important than the actual qualification in management positions.
criticism of political non -transparency
Criticism for the posting in Austria is not only limited to the current scandals. The "Independent trade unionists: Inside Göd" have also denounced the non -transparent practices in public administration. These require more transparency and are committed to combating corruption in all public areas. Cooperation with initiatives that work for an effective constitutional state and against corruption is considered necessary to eliminate grievances in the administration and to reform public administration.
In general, there is conviction that political networks and relationships play a much greater role in the occupation of management positions than the actual expertise and competence. This problem affects not only the political sphere, but also the healthcare system and other areas in which the political influence on personnel decisions is regularly criticized. In view of these developments, the call for more transparency and a fundamental reform of the posting in Austria becomes louder and louder in order to protect citizens from political arbitrariness and to maintain the integrity of the institutions. The debate about postschacher and non -transparency will continue to employ politicians and society. For more information on these topics, click here: Exxpress , OTS .
