Police announce tough controls at Tuning World Bodensee!

The Tuning World Bodensee will take place in Friedrichshafen from May 1st to 4th. Numerous visitors from Vorarlberg and other regions are expected for this event. The Ravensburg police have announced that they will carry out increased controls to counteract the problem of illegal tuning. For tactical reasons, details of the inspection locations and times will not be announced in advance. Nevertheless, it is to be expected that there will be both stationary and mobile controls.

One focus of the police will be on checking technical changes to vehicles. In addition to performance improvements, this also includes acoustic and visual changes to the vehicles. In addition, the drivers' ability to drive is checked. The police will particularly prevent aggressive driving behavior and other violations such as revving the engine and illegal racing.

Details about police checks

The controls at Tuning World Bodensee are part of a broader strategy to increase road safety. In the past, particularly during similar events, problems with illegal conversions have often occurred. Last year, for example, unauthorized modifications were discovered in almost one in 13 vehicles in Baden-Württemberg, which led to around 1,000 bans on further travel. The police will therefore rely on cross-border cooperation with specialized units from other federal states and neighboring countries. Support is also expected from emergency services from Vorarlberg.

Past inspections surrounding similar events have already shown high numbers of violations identified. Of over 450 vehicles inspected, 170 illegal conversions were found, 33 vehicles were confiscated and 18 driving bans were issued against drivers. In addition, more than 740 violations were recorded for increased speed and failure to maintain the minimum distance, underlining the need for such comprehensive controls.

Legal situation and responsible handling of tuning

Many drivers of tuned vehicles have concerns about police checks, but these are often unfounded. The authorities have nothing against compliant tuning with permitted accessories. It is important to emphasize that the inspection rate of modified vehicles is not statistically higher than the overall average. During traffic checks, numerous aspects are checked, including driver's license and vehicle license as well as the general road safety of the vehicle.

The police pay particular attention to the permissibility of technical changes, such as the use of special chassis, ground clearance, wheel-tire combinations and exhaust systems. To avoid fines, drivers should always carry the relevant documents, such as ABE and EC approvals. Responsible handling and compliance with regulations often make worries about controls unnecessary.

The police appeal to all visitors to Tuning World Bodensee to check their vehicles in advance for the applicable regulations in order to ensure road safety. In view of the upcoming controls, it is advisable to stick to the rules and thus avoid unpleasant surprises.
