Physiotherapy in Austria: Urgent need for action recognized!

A current study by Gesundheit-Österreich GmbH (GöG) On behalf of Physio Austria, has published alarming results on physiotherapy care in Austria. The examination, which focused on election therapists, shows that more than half of the physiotherapists surveyed have to reject one to five inquiries every week. This explosive knowledge is presented by Constance Schlegl, the President of Physio Austria, and study author Reinhard Meixner. You invite you to an online press conference on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. to explain the results in detail how ots.at reported.

The study by Reinhard Meixner, which was carried out between February 2 and March 4, 2024, illuminates the current situation of physiotherapeutic care. A total of 2661 questionnaires were filled out, of which 1462 could be evaluated. It turned out that election therapy was considered the preferred model by the interviewed doctors. Passport contracts, on the other hand, are rarely used, which identifies financial and organizational hurdles as the main reasons. In order to fix these challenges and improve care, the study calls for an increase in cash tariffs and a facilitation of submitting fees. This could help increase the availability of supply data, according to Meixner, such as Gesundheits.gv.at reports.
