Pensioners defend themselves: Protest against planned pension cuts!

The latest reports on possible increases in health insurance contributions for pensioners have caused unrest in Austria. The President of the Austrian Senior Citizens' Association, LAbg. Ingrid Korosec, commented and made it clear that it was so far only unconfirmed media reports. The current contribution is 5.1%. Korosec emphasizes that every raising must also go hand in hand with concrete improvements in healthcare, such as lower waiting times during operations or an expansion of care by health insurance doctors. He criticizes the planned suspension of the valorization of the pension account crops for next year, which, according to media reports, would mean a drastic reduction of around 7 percent. He argues that such measures endanger confidence in statutory pension insurance and threaten the subsistence level of almost 2.5 million people in Austria.
