Osttirol Juniors celebrate an impressive 8-0 victory in the U14 championship!

On November 11, 2025, the Osttirol Juniors celebrated an impressive start to the season in the U14 championship. In a dominant game against ESC Steindorf they won 8-0. The team showed impressive performance right from the start and continuously expanded their lead. Benjamin Rainer was particularly outstanding, hitting the mark three times. In addition, Tim Weiskopf contributed two goals and Marco Patterer, Sandro Wibmer and Klemens Holzer each contributed another goal. This brilliant result cemented the Osttirol Juniors' ambitions for the current season.

However, in the same league, UECR Huben suffered a setback. In the Carinthian Alps Hockey Cup Division I the team lost to EC Spittal 7:4. Huben initially took a 1-0 lead through Matthias Wibmer, but Spittal turned the game around with goals from Martin Urbanek and Marco Zorec after two power plays. Antons Sinegubvs and Jure Sotlar equalized for Huben, but Spittal ultimately prevailed with a final spurt when Urban Sodja scored two more goals.

Promoting young ice hockey players is showing success

The impressive achievements of the young players are part of a larger recruitment and development plan in Austrian ice hockey. The ENZO, the Ice Hockey Youth Center East, has developed new ways of working with kindergartens and schools to make ice hockey popular among the youngest. These initiatives include the integration of ice hockey into regular elementary school classes as well as a unique ice hockey kindergarten program.

From 2022 to 2024, kindergarten programs were implemented in seven other Austrian federal states, enabling over 700 children to get started in ice hockey. The cooperation between ÖEHV, ENZO and the umbrella organizations ASKÖ, ASVÖ and SPORTUNION is of central importance. The program will be continued from 2025 in collaboration between ÖEHV and ENZO to get even more children excited about sport.

The Osttirol Juniors and the youth program are examples of the positive development of ice hockey in Austria. While the juniors cause a sensation with their strong performances, the comprehensive recruiting projects help to promote the sport in all age groups.
