ÖSV team is fighting for honor: Big appearance on the departure in Val Gardena!
shock for the ÖSV: Daniel Hemetsberger has to cancel his participation in the men's descent in Kvitfjell! As the Krone reports, the alpine racer suffers from acute back pain that prevents him from participating in the competition. This is an additional challenge for the already heavily decimated Austrian team, which now has to compete with only nine runners. These include Stefan Babinsky, Vincent Kriechmayr, Otmar Striedinger and other top athletes who do everything they can to maximize their services in the departure.
Another setback for the race: The Italian Mattia Casse, also acted as a favorite, lacks after a serious training accident, in which he broke and was operated on the right elbow. Casse was one of the panel candidates and now it is important for the other runners to compensate for this loss. It remains to be seen whether the remaining ÖSV athletes are able to meet expectations, especially after the disappointing Super-G.
racing expectations and favorites
The anticipation for the descent on the "Saslong" in Val Gardena does not become smaller despite the challenges. The race will take place on Saturday, December 21st, such as tips.at . The competition is strong, with the favorites Marco Odermatt and Cyprien Sarrazin, as well as our own Vincent Kriechmayr, who has to show a significant increase in performance in this departure. Excitement is programmed, because the departure in Val Gardena often offers surprises: drivers with higher start numbers also have the chance to win the day.
The entire start list shows that the race for first place is open. The starting shot takes place at 11:45 a.m. With almost all national top drivers at the start - the Austrian team is particularly determined this year to take the momentum out of the previous races and successfully cut off.
