ÖSV eagle fly high: double victory and new World Cup record in Lake Placid!
Austria's ski jumper wrote history in the competitions in Lake Placid. Daniel Tschofenig and Jan Hörl celebrated an extraordinary double victory on Sunday and thus marked a new World Cup record. The two athletes showed impressive achievements and achieved a new best value with their podium places 38 and 39 of the current season, which was previously held by the Japanese team in the 1998/99 season. It was particularly successful for Tschofenig: the only 21-year-old celebrated his eighth victory in this World Cup cycle.
Already on Saturday the ÖSV eagles impressed, where they only had to give up in a narrow competition to the Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang. Tschofenig and Hörl landed in the ranks two and three. Despite the challenging wind conditions, Tschofenig showed a strong performance, increased after a good first jump and confirmed its dominance this season. The four-hill touring touring Tschofenig and Hörl, who reached his eleventh podium this season, were satisfied with their achievements. "It was really cool. I'm Megahappy with second place," said Hörl after the competition.
results and further developments
The impressive result in Lake Placid is accompanied by a review of the overall World Cup: the ÖSV eagles around Tschofenig, Hörl and Stefan Kraft have expanded their lead at the top. In the absence of the German athlete Pius Paschke, who withdrew from the competition, they are now comfortable in the saddle. On Saturday there are other competitions in Lake Placid, including a mixed team competition that will attract many eyes. While Tschofenig and Hörl are happy about their extraordinary success, the competition will remain exciting, especially for the other Austrian jumpers who want to step into the footsteps of the recently achieved triumph.
