Price comparison of installers: discover savings potential in Upper Austria

A new survey by the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor has shown that there are considerable price differences in installers. These differences affect both the hourly rates of the skilled workers and the travel costs, which can provide consumers with challenges if they want to hire an installer.

The investigation included 90 installation companies that specialize in gas and water. The Chamber of Labor found that the hourly rates for an installation mechanic vary from 54 to 108 euros. The average price is 85 euros. A particularly interesting point is the travel expenses that can fluctuate considerably. Here, too, the price of 13.50 euros is enough to 86 euros, the average is around 38 euros. It is strongly recommended to compare the prices in advance and make binding agreements in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.

regional price differences

In terms of the regions, the analysis shows some striking differences. For the highest hourly rate you have to pay in the Kirchdorf district, where an hour costs almost 99 euros. In comparison, the Braunau district is the cheapest at just under 70 euros. The travel costs also vary greatly; Welsland leads with an average of around 60 euros. One positive aspect is that two out of three companies include travel expenses in the hourly rates in Eferding, which can be saved for consumers.

  • A total of nine of the companies are so fair that they bill the working hours accurately.
  • The majority, 38 out of 90 companies surveyed, accounts for a minimum amount of 30 minutes.

On the subject of price development, there is also news. Compared to 2023, the hourly rates have increased by ten percent. Fortunately, the prices in nine of the companies examined remain stable and have not increased what benefits consumers.

cost control: binding cost estimate

A valuable tip from the Chamber of Labor is to always obtain a binding cost estimate. Such a cost estimate binds the entrepreneur unless you have expressly agreed something else beforehand, such as "non-binding cost estimate" or "Zirka prices". In the case of a price reduction for material or working hours, savings must be passed on to customers, which offers consumers even more security in pricing.
