Art festival turns Steyr's old town into a lively experience

The art festival, which took place from September 16 to 21, transformed the old town of Steyr into a true art paradise. Around 700 art -interested, from child to the elderly, both locals and visitors came together to experience the creative pop art galleries that were integrated into several vacancies. This event was not only characterized by its artistic performances, but also by the living environment that she created.

Visitors were invited by daily vernissages and guided art walks to experience the works of the artists up close. These artists came from Steyr, Upper Austria and other parts of the world. The exhibitors included Gloria Beneder, Rudi Meidl, and many more who presented a wide range of art styles, from painting to photography to impressive video installations. The organization team, consisting of local personalities, emphasized the success of the event with the words: "Steyr Art Week was a complete success."

special experiences and highlights

The participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the diverse art worlds. A special highlight was the opening of a work of art with an innovative ice cream from Buburuza, which was created especially for this occasion. Another remarkable event was the spontaneous auction of a work of art by Barbara Weinberger in favor of the flood aid fund, which demonstrated the connection between art and social engagement in an impressive way.

Visitors like Katharina Höfler were enthusiastic about the opportunity to discover young, regional artists. She also emphasized the unique experience of seeing unusual rooms that are normally not accessible to a gallery. On the last day of the event, the Guatemaltec artist Víctor Sales made his exhibition an impressive conclusion that captivated the audience again.

The organizer was impressed by the growth of visitors compared to the previous year, which shows the growing popularity of Steyr Art Week. There were numerous visitors who visited every opening, which shows that the event is valued. Seven artists were selected from over 50 applications to present themselves in this extraordinary framework, while other creative people also had the opportunity to show their works at Side Events.

The creative installation "Exchange ABTUBER" by Barbara Mungenast and Wilhelm Singer was part of these secondary events. Artists like Daniel Hilgert, who had already exhibited last year, also presented her works together with other creatives. The Pohlhammer art gallery also offered a special exhibition by Heribert Mader.

The organization team invites all interested artists to apply for the next edition in 2025. They are particularly looking forward to asking more Steyr artists in front of the curtain and further expanding the event.
