Large exercise of the FF Garsten: Save 200 emergency services in the event of a bus accident
On November 22nd, there was an impressive major exercise in Garsten, which was organized by the Garsten volunteer fire brigade in cooperation with the Red Cross Steyr Stadt and the companies Pecinovsky and WP-Metall. In this exercise, more than 200 people took part who demonstrated their skills and teamwork.
The scenario of the exercise was a multi -stage traffic accident that included a bus, a truck and seven cars. The aim of this exercise was to prepare the emergency services in real emergency situations and find out how they can react under pressure

The fact that a total of 40 injured people had to be saved from the accident vehicles was particularly impressive. Thanks to the excellent coordination and the quick reactions of the forces used, the entire scenario was successfully managed in less than an hour.
Several fire departments were involved, including the fire brigades Garsten, Sand, Aschach a.d. Steyr, St. Ulrich and the technical train of the Steyr fire brigade. The presentation of the operational readiness and the smooth interaction of the different groups were perceived very positively by the onlookers and exercise observers.
The Red Cross Steyr also provided numerous resources. In addition to the ambulances from the districts of Steyr-Stadt and Steyr-Land, emergency vehicles from Amstetten, seven emergency doctors and the quick deployment group (SEG) from the Steyr-Stadt district office were also used. Units from the state rescue commandos were also involved, which underlined the professionalism of the exercise.
