The return of books: Ternberg is planning a new library for the community

In Ternberg, a market town with around 3,400 inhabitants, there has not been a library since 2008. That is now about to change, thanks to the initiative of a committed team called “Ternberger Zukunft – Association for Village Renewal”. Under the leadership of Stefan Losko and Kathi Pree, the members have been working since June to promote the reintroduction of a library after 17 years. “It is important to be close to people and thus provide easy access to stories and knowledge,” said Pree. She sees the new library as a lively place that should offer encounters and inspiration.

The new library will be set up in former business premises in the Mandl guesthouse directly on the town square. Even though the opening is not scheduled for 2025, there is no set date yet. The team hopes to use this facility to create a central place for the community that will serve as a meeting place and stimulate social life.

Flea market to benefit the library

To help fund the library, a book and toy flea market will be held in the parish hall on Sunday, November 17th from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Proceeds from this sale will go directly to the new library. Anyone who would like to browse can look forward to a varied selection, while coffee and cake ensure a pleasant atmosphere.

The team is asking for donations of books, CDs, DVDs, Tonies, magazines, board games, puzzles and toys for the flea market. Those interested can drop off their donations at the parish hall on three set days: November 14th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., November 15th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and November 16th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This initiative underlines the social cohesion in Ternberg and the efforts to revitalize culture and education in the community.

With this planning and the upcoming flea market, which also functions as a social activity, the members of Ternberger Zukunft are showing how important it is to them to promote education and community. The upcoming flea market could soon be a traditional element in Ternberg that not only brings in money for the library, but also brings people together.
