New managing director Philipp Kain starts challenges at the E-Werk
perg. An important change has taken place at the municipal energy supplier E-Werk. Philipp Kain has been appointed the new managing director and takes on the role of Helmut Puchmayr, who is retiring. Puchmayr has been working for the E-Werk since 1987 and played a decisive role in the development of the company, which was outlined in 1999, but still remains in the possession of the municipality of Perg.
Mayor Anton Froschauer praised Puchmayr's commitment and the constant efforts of his team to improve the quality of the energy supply. "Helmut Puchmayr was very committed to the E-Werk," said the mayor. Philipp Kain, who lives with his family in Perg, brings valuable experience into the company. After his electrical training at HTL Braunau and studying in sales and marketing at the Steyr University of Applied Sciences, he worked in various positions among IT service providers for over ten years.
challenges for the future
Kain commented on the upcoming challenges that the E-Werk must master in the coming years. "The top priority has security, a certain predictability and fair prices," he says. In order to meet these requirements, Kain implements several measures, including important steps towards cyber security and modernization of the network. The introduction of smart meters for simplified meter reading is also on the agenda, which should not exclude personal contact with the customers. "We still want to be available personally," emphasizes Kain.
In addition, the expansion of the office locations is planned to create a modern work environment. "Modernizations are necessary for the power plant systems," continued Kain. In particular, the control technology of the KW3 Schartmühle combined heat and power plant urgently needs a replacement, because it is striving for the end of its lifespan.
rising costs and their effects
Another challenge is the financial aspects of energy supply. For 2025, an increase in electricity prices can be expected throughout Austria. Both Cain and Puchmayr agree that the federal government's state price brake will soon expire and that the network fees are expected to increase by 20 percent. The network fees are determined by the e-control and are therefore not in the area of influence of the e-plant.
The new operations manager of the E-Werk, Markus Ebner, is a long-standing employee and will support Kain in his new role. The course for the future of the E-Werk is set, and Philipp Kain is determined to tackle the challenges and continue to successfully lead the company into the future.
