Sad discovery: Missing man found dead in Leondinger Wald dead
In Styria and in the Linz-Land district, two tragic incidents recently caused dismayed minds when missing senior citizens were finally found dead. On Sunday, an 85-year-old man with advanced dementia was discovered in a forest near Kumberg after he had been reported by his daughter since Sunday evening. Despite the intensive and extensive search, in which police dogs and drones were involved, only his lifeless body could be recovered. The rescue measures that were initiated immediately were unsuccessful. According to the crown, external fault can be excluded.
Another tragic case occurred in Leonding, where a 76-year-old man from the Kepler University Hospital was missing. The seriously ill man disappeared from the emergency room on Thursday afternoon, only shortly after he was treated there due to a collapse. The search, which was initiated in the hospital after his disappearance, included a large number of emergency services, including the police, red cross and the family. The discovery of his E-Card, which was found in the forest, came crucial. A large -scale search, in which seven fire departments were also involved, finally found his sad certainty on Sunday: the man was found dead in a forest near his place of residence. Foreign fault was also excluded here, as Fotokerschi reported.
Both incidents also make a highlight of the challenges associated with the care of people with dementia. At an age at which vulnerability is greatest, the urgency is evident to take suitable measures to protect this group of people. The events in Kumberg and Leonding illustrate how important it is to act quickly and targeted in the event of missing persons.
