Mensafeste in Linz: Where is the night line for students?

linz. One concern of many students remains unfulfilled for the time being: the student representative ÖH had vehemently pleaded that the trams in Linz are supposed to run in Linz at night. While this wish came across open ears, the negotiations for the implementation of the project stand still.

The proposal to have the trams driven on these special evenings and weekends on weekends met with broad approval among the Linz students. However, there are different opinions about the reasons for the delay. According to the ÖH, the talks with Vice Mayor Martin Hajart are still constructive. Hajart himself is also for implementation and already has the first discussions with the Linz lines. However, the financing of the project seems to be a central point of dispute, with the Hajart office and the student representative identify the city councilor Tina Blöchl as a shoe.

financing problem in focus

The city councilor, however, contradicted this and explains that the responsibility for financing at the Linz Linien company was lines. So far, these have not applied for a financing. Upon request at Linz AG Linien, it was confirmed that the expansion of night traffic was associated with additional costs. A cost calculation was carried out, but there was still an agreement on further discussions. The exact cost of night traffic is not made transparent on the part of the company.

The students' demands are clear, but the bureaucratic and financial hurdles seem to be currently insurmountable. The complexity of financial responsibility and the search for solutions seem to hinder progress in this matter.

The first cafeteria festival of the new semester is already scheduled for Thursday. In order to enable the students to travel home, Linz AG Linien, in cooperation with CC Taxicenter GmbH, offer a special night-aast service. This alternative enables cheap journeys within Linz and in twelve adjacent communities such as Traun, Leonding and Pasching. This represents a short -term solution, at least until a final decision about the night trial has been made for mensafest.

The Situation remains exciting and it remains to be seen whether and when finally these adjustments will be realized in order to meet the wishes of the students and to serve the city's transport infrastructure. Numerous questions about the financing and the initiatives of the city administration remain unsolved, and the students are looking forward to further developments.
